4 Critical Questions To Help You Kickstart Your 2023 Development

This is the time of year to set intentions, choose mantras, and make plans for our next trip around the sun. During times of transition, it's important to reflect on what you want to accomplish and carry with you moving forward — and potentially, what you DON'T want to carry anymore. That is why now is the perfect time to start reflecting on your career development goals for 2023. Just like with any resolution, it's helpful to get specific, personal, and actionable about where you're heading — in your role, your organization, and your long term career. I've developed a few questions to help you kickstart this reflection, and in the process, establish a strong strategy for accomplishing your 2023 development goals. Read on to learn more.

4 Critical Development Questions for 2023

  1. Think about what you learned this year in your role. What is one thing you want to bring with you into 2023, and one thing that you'd like to leave behind?

  2. What do you hope to accomplish in 2023? Be as specific as possible, using SMART Goals — Specific, Measurable, Attainable, and Relevant.

  3. What kind of skills, trainings, or resources will you need to achieve your goals next year?

  4. What kind of support and feedback you will need from your leaders in order to succeed? Schedule a meeting with your boss to discuss your goals and training/resource needs, and make a plan for regular accountability and feedback check-ins.

You're ready to begin! This is simply a process of uncovering and clarifying your goals, speaking them out loud to yourself and your boss, and using this process to embark on a strategy for success in the new year. Everyone here at Success Labs is cheering you on as you prepare to achieve great things in 2023.
